      <image:title>ABOUT - JOHN FEENEY - COACH &amp; PHYSIOLOGIST</image:title>
      <image:caption>Having participated in &amp; coached endurance sport for several years, I decided to establish a consultancy with the aim to improve athletic performance by delivering accessible sports science support. My vision is to provide a range of practical sports science solutions enabling all athletes, from novice to elite, to strive for excellence &amp; achieve their performance goals &amp; aspirations. I want to help bridge that gap between amateur and elite sport.  I have always been passionate about endurance sport &amp; this led me to complete a BSc in Sport &amp; Exercise Science at the University of Portsmouth. This really opened my eyes to elite sport &amp; the provision of sports science support. I have since completed my MSc in Applied Exercise Physiology at the University of Brighton specialising in the management of fatigue in triathlon and environmental physiology.  I have worked with a wide variety of amateur athletes in sports including triathlon, marathon running, cycling &amp; Ironman. I have worked with several elite level endurance athletes, supported a triathlon training camp in Northern Mallorca &amp; advised GB age-group triathletes on competing in hot environments. I have taken part in several marathons and half marathons including London, Edinburgh, Prague, Brighton, Reading and the Two Oceans in Cape Town. In more recent years, injury has forced me to concentrate on coaching and providing practical sports science advice to athletes and local sports clubs.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>I’ve been working with Moray for a couple of years now preparing him for the challenging Haute Route events which culminate each year in two 7-day back-to-back events in the Alps &amp; Pyrenees. These are really tough events with riders having to deal with long climbs, fast/technical descents, high altitude &amp; very changeable weather. It’s basically ride, eat, drink, rest, repeat! Moray is a very experienced cyclist &amp; so my role tends to be more as physiologist than technical cycling coach. A lot of my work involves preparing Moray's annual training plan as part of the PERFORMANCE coaching package, monitoring his training load &amp; performance. We always review the previous year, identify strengths &amp; weaknesses &amp; then chat about his goals/aspirations for the coming year. This helps me identify the physiological demands of trying to meet those performance goals &amp; plan the necessary training blocks.</image:caption>
